Starting your Journey towards Healing with EMDR

Perhaps you feel as though you understand yourself and have made peace with some elements of your past. You know why you are the way you are, but despite your self-awareness you still feel stuck. You can identify your triggers, but feel unable to change the way you react to them and struggle with persistent self-doubt. If this sounds like your experience, you may be ready to begin EMDR.

EMDR therapy is designed to:

  • help people experience less intense trauma reactions

  • more easily self-regulate after being triggered

  • challenges negative core beliefs that people “learned” during their traumatic experiences

  • replaces those beliefs with “adaptive cognitions,” or positive self-beliefs.

I understand that this process of letting go of defenses can be incredibly scary. As trauma-informed therapists, we prioritize our clients’ autonomy and take a choose-your-own-adventure approach to EMDR. If you need to pause, we pause. If you need to learn more, we share what we know. Ultimately, we hope to help your nervous system re-calibrate so that you can find your voice and feel safe when you are truly safe.
